Abstract - Jason Hoover

One of the enjoyable aspects of photography is the creativity the medium allows the photographer. With the digital age and the advent of powerful computers and sophisticated software, photographers can take creativity much father than what can be accomplished  in a darkroom.

These photos have been altered with various filters, changing the appearance to a more abstract character than in an unaltered  photograph. While some may say this is just a method of covering for a deficient photo, I believe that some photos lend themselves to this type of alteration and are improved even if the photo is already considered to be "good".

The photos in this gallery were chosen based on texture, shape, or color that the filters emphasized in a way a regular photo did not bring out. Some of the effects are easily noticed while other effects are more subtle and cannot be readily seen unless the picture is enlarged. I hope you enjoy browsing through the gallery.
