My pursuit of photography began in high school where I learned the basics of developing film and making photographic prints. In college i took other photo classes but went into teaching. Teaching jobs were hard to find, so I took a job selling photo equipment in a photo store where I managed to equip myself with all the necessities for a darkroom setup.
As the digital age began, I found I could not afford the cost of film, chemicals, and paper. I divested myself of all my analog gear and purchased my first digital camera: a Nikon 990 that had 3.1 megapixels and took photos in JPEG and Tiff. Later, I purchased a Canon Rebel DSLR and started investing in lenses that would transfer to any camera in the Canon line.
People began to compliment me on my photos and I occasionally sold a print. This encouraged me to consider a more professional pursuit of photography. I studied photography books about the art and skill of making photographs, and I took more photos to improve my skills.
In 2014 I was invited to join a group of photographers called the Arcanum. As we shared ideas and learned new techniques, I was motivated to pursue my dream of becoming a professional photographer. For more information about the Arcanum, click here or contact me.

Have you purchased orupgraded your camera but are bewildered by screens and buttons. What is "white balance"? Did you grow up in the film days and cannot make sense of the digital world? How do you get the photos from my camera into the computer?
I can help you to move forward until you feel comfortable in using your equipment. I am familiar with most cameras and will help you to get the most from your gear and user's manual. I have taught the basics of camera use and photography to small groups and individuals for over a decade.
I have moved the photograph from the camera to the computer, but now what do I do with it?
I have considerable experience in Photoshop and Lightroom. If you need a small amount of time just for review, or feel like you need more extensive help using these software programs or other programs (Gimp, Pixelmator, Corel, etc. ) please contact me.
